Why Pleasure and Divinity are Linked

In the practice of Tantrism, from which the chakra system originates, Svadhisthana is the original Sanskrit word for the sacral chakra. According to Anodea Judith author of Eastern Body Western Mind, the word Svadhisthana can be broken down into "Swa" (self) and "Adhisthana" (established), which can be interpreted loosely as one's own sacred dwelling place. Thus, this chakra, which is traditionally associated with pleasure, joy, play, and sensuality, holds much more wisdom about the Self and our path to reclaiming our own divinity than one might realize.
